Welcome Nightmare_castle. I love your collection, particularly the American posters for Italian horror. Can I ask where you have found those?

I am a big fan of both Italian horror and Italian posters myself. Though my collection of the latter is not very big yet. So far I have:

La frusta e il Corpo (a.k.a. The Whip and the Body/ What), ITA 4-F, linen backed and restored
Il diabolico dott. Satana (a.k.a. Gritos en la noche/ The Awful Dr. Orlof), ITA 4-F
Il boia scarlatto (a.k.a. The Crimson Executioner), ITA 2-F (first release 1966)
L'amante del vampiro (a.k.a. The Vampire and the Ballerina), ITA 2-F

Suspiria, ITA 1-F
Profondo Rosso, ITA 2-F ("blue/ yellow" re-release variant)
La casa dalle finistre che ridono, ITA 2-F
l'uccello dalle piume di cristalo (a.k.a. The Bird with the Crystal Plumage), ITA 2-F
Tenebre, ITA 2-F (first release + later re-release)

Italian horror posters from other countries:

La frusta e il corpo GERMAN
The Beyond DANISH + US re-release
Zombi 2 SPANISH
Cannibal Holocaust DANISH
Sei donne per l'assassino (a.k.a. Blood and Black Lace) Danish
Il mulino delle donne di pietra - GERMAN 2 variants

Wow! These ones are great, in particoular the italian versions of the 1960s movies, I saw them but they're so expensive! Where did you find them?

The posters you can see in my gallery were always be bought on ebay (.it, .com, .de, .fr...I search in every part of the world :) ). An interesting site, with generally acceptable prices for Italian posters, is Heritage Gallery, maybe you know it...If you have other sites, tell me!

I also have 15-20 posters of "Italian giallos", I hope to insert in my site next week...

Thanks :)

Most of my mine were also bought on eBay (.it and .com) and a few I traded privately. Il boia scarlatto I got from Intercard in Torino (I wrote about my experience with them in another thread). I think I paid abot ?150 for that one. Some might consider that expensive, but since the first release poster is almost impossible to find I actually think I got it for quite a fair price.

La frusta and L'amante I both got from eBay seller Fantomas38000 (he is from Spain, but sells on .com).

Yeah, prices tend to go a bit too high on the 1960's stuff for my liking. Especially with some of the sellers on ebay.it! I have a few Italian gothic horrors that I know I just need to have, like Bava's Il maschera del demonio and Operazione paura, Fulci's Zombi 2 (4-F), the 2-F of Il mulino delle donne di pietra and the 2-F of I vampiri. But all of these are very hard to find and if you find them they usually go for several hundred dollars. So right now I focus on other posters. I know I will get them eventually. I just need to save up for them. :)

I know Heritage, but I have never won anything there yet (I am acutally bidding on two "bad girl" posters at the moment). If you don't know it, I can also recommend Bruce Hershenson's excellent emovieposter.com.

Yes! I know both of them...The problem with ebay.it is that italian posters are sold as "great art", with very expensive price, also for not so important films.
There are some exceptions, for example last month I bought a set of 3 italian "fotobuste" of "I vampiri" by riccardo Freda for 40? (13? each one!), while I saw them at 70-80? each one in a ebay store!

An information...can I add my new posters of the section here or I have to open a new topic? I don't know exactly the rules of the forum... :)

I've added some new poster, including the german version of "Black sunday - La maschera del demonio" by Mario Bava and a huge french poster of "La vergine di Norimberga - Horror Castle" by Margheriti! ;)

nice thread. I'm a huge fan of Italian posters but somehow my collection includes very in the way of horror titles....well Italian ones anyway. I do have a great Salem's Lot 2 fogli and a 70s rerelease 4 fogli for Hitchcock's The Birds that I love. I'll add the photos when i get home, but definitely keep us posted with your collection!

Beautiful posters and a stunning website. I have very few Italian horror posters, only American versions of Suspiria, Demons and The Devil's Daughter (aka The Sect) directed by Michele Soavi (sp?). The Sect is extremely weird and colorful.
Looking at your collection reminds me of an afternoon I spent with Dario Argento in Las Vegas. As I accompanied him at the VSDA show there in 1987, I got quite an earful from him regarding the then-current state of the horror film. He is an artist and a master.
